Herstellung All of the cards are meant to be laminated (recommended laminate thickness: 90-125 micron). The individual cards need to be cut out. Sides not to be laminated: side 14 (template) Sides or cards to be bound into a booklet: none
Inhalt / Lehrplanbezug The material includes pairs of adjectives that can be used for opposites (thick/thin, full/empty, big/small, etc.) and also for comparisons (thicker than, thinner than, as thick as, as thin as, etc.). The correct use of the words ‘than’ and ‘as’ is highlighted
Einsatzmöglichkeiten Early reading, working with different word groups, visual differences, etc. Free time activity, individual work, pair work, small group work
Vorbereitungen To work with this material, the children require: a floor mat or a felt board, stationery for writing (for the worksheet)

This material can be used on three levels:

1) Terms - The individual pictures should be labelled and matched with the adjectives (old car / new car). With the triplicate picture cards the children should decide which pictures are alike and which are different.

2) Comparisons - The pairing cards can be used to work with the word groups (as old as / as new as / older than / newer than).

3) Key words - The children can focus on the words 'as' (alike) and 'than' (different). The pairing cards can be paired with the cards with incomplete sentences. The key words 'as' and 'than' have been left blank

Erfahrungen, Tipps, Hinweise I recommend storing the cards in two separate boxes: one for the single picture cards and word cards (level 1), and the other for the pairing cards and sentence cards (levels 2 and 3)
